I have plans to challenge build a Windstar.
Dude showed up at the Calgary chumpcar race with an SVO swapped windstar. It was fairly speedy, for the short periods of time it wasn't getting engines swapped.
My plan is simply add lightness and the shortest/widest/stickiest tires that will fit a 15"x6" wheel. The tire size I'm looking at drops the van 1.5". Not to mention the "gearing" advantage a shorter tire will add.

I think Pete might have it. This was the best I could find.

Since you are new, you missed the $2010 Challenge coverage:
Keep trying though.

I can't imagine the circumstances that would inspire me to race my 62 Thunderbird. Although sadly, at 4,293 pounds, it's not too much heavier than a new Camaro or Challenger, and people race those.
Are you sure?
Forgot about that car. That had to be unpleasant.
Still, I don't think anyone has raced a Popemobile:
Or does it not classify because of it's purpose built nature/rarity?
Chrysler LeBaron. Convertible, especially. My wife (at the time, girlfriend) owned one when we started dating- she asked if we could autocross it. I gave her a flat "hell no" and that ended there. Mushiest suspension ever fitted to a car, worst brakes, a chassis as flexible as a Cirque du Soleil performer, and nose-heavy understeer to boot.

Huh? They're basically a dressed up Dodge Daytona, and I'm surprised one hasn't turned up at the Challenge yet. Maybe the turbo models came with better suspension and brakes.

I'm pretty sure I remember a Turbo LeBaron at an early Challenge. There was a team that would run a Turbo MoPar anything. One year they ran a convert, complete with bull horn hood ornament.

After much thinking, I came up with this
Then I found this...

For the nature of this exercise, we need to exclude stock vehicles autocrossed for a "what the hell, why not do it once?" run.
IIRC, the Boss Hong (entered by a team that usually does Hondas) was a Dodge 600.
There are also a couple LeBarons out there running around with V8 conversion kits developed for running various K-car based things in Pro Stock.

It's a one off.. Doesn't count...
A local group runs a 2.5L TBI 5-speed minivan in Lemons and ChumpCar. They do well with it.

Oh I would definitely race that! Is this a shooting brake? Where's that old shooting brake thread, I think this needs to be added in.

Does a demolition derby count as racing?
Wow...ok I stand corrected about the LeBaron. Although one with a V8 stuffed in it and RWD conversion hardly seems like the same car...and I'm amazed one showed up at the Challenge.
I think we may have a winner in the Aztec.

I happen to know that Speedycop (same guy responsible for the red T-bird above) has just procured one of these for sub-$500 and will be racing it in Lemons.
