I want to put air bags in the rear coil springs of my '71 Ford station wagon, for load leveling while towing. The inside diameter of the springs (at the widest point) is 5 3/4 inches, height is 10". The biggest spring I can find is 5 1/2x10. Is this gonna be a problem?
Look for a chevelle kit, or just call air lift. Should be awfully simple
In reply to Dusterbd13 :
I called Air Lift and Firestone. Firestone's biggest bag is 5.5", Air Lift's is 5.38". The Firestone kit is for a Toyota Land Cruiser.
Bagriders lists some Slam Specialties up to 7" and Universal Air bags up to 7" in diameter. They've been pretty patient with me as I poke around trying to figure out what I want to do with the RX3.
Might be worth calling them to see if they have something to meet your specs.

It doesn't look like they play with anything that goes inside a coil spring. If I haven't figured anything out by Monday, I'll give them a call.

No kits for a '71 wagon?
Not that my feeble attempts at searching have revealed.

Ah sorry wrong application, I had air struts/bags on the mind and you were talking helper bags. It might be worth calling them anyway since they're a dealer for a bunch of different air ride companies.
Air lift has made these for decades.
They know what they're doing: https://www.airliftcompany.com/products/air-springs/air-lift-1000/

But they don't make them big enough for my springs.

If I recall the last set of helper bags I used were a litte smaller than the spring id when deflated. Once they were filled with air, the sides bulged a little and they worked perfectly.
The bag has to be slightly smaller for easy installation, it expands when inflated. Always run with some pressure in the bag.
The decision is made. I'll be ordering them today.
