I remember seeing him giving a presentation on driving a pre-pre-war racecar.
FIAT let him drive one of their big, pre WWI beasts that was powered by a zeppelin engine or something like that.
Chain drive, total loss oiling system, rear wheel brakes, sliding gear transmission, all the good stuff.
He said something to the affect: "It has brakes but you don't dare use them. If you want to slow down coming into a turn, pitch the car sideways and steer it with the throttle. This way, if anything goes wrong, you might still have some brakes which may save you."
I really enjoyed anything he was hosting.
