(Honda) Gurus--

What is an effective alarm setup for a 96-00 Civic? My beater EG hatch was stolen from my driveway last week and I want its replacement to make some noise if it's messed with.

I'm hoping to get something that has a back up so it will keep sounding after they try to disable it the first time. Also thinking about getting a separate fuel kill.

Finally, is it effective to do this on a car without power locks???

Wire an extra relay into the fuel pump circut. Activate it with a switch stuck somewhere weird, like the passenger footwell.

Here in Manitoba we have a government owned public insurance system that made it mandatory for all high-risk vehicles to be equipped with an aftermarket immobilizer. Needless to say, both my Civics have one. https://www.autowatchamerica.com/products/immobilizers/ That's the brand one of them is. It basically is a black box with relays inside that interrupt power to fuel pump, ECU and starter motor. All the wires are black, so it makes them harder to disable. There are several redundant ground wires to add to the difficulty. There is an antenna wire that gets looped around the ignition switch, and you carry a little fob with your keys. The car won't crank, the fuel pump won't run and the ECU won't be powered up unless you swipe the key fob near the ignition switch.

On one of my civics I also installed an aftermarket remote start/alarm on top of the immobilizer. Just a Compustar 2-way paging. Pretty simple, just a hood pin, and inputs from both door and trunk latches as well as a shock sensor. Mine doesn't have a tilt sensor or backup battery hooked up, but there is provision for both of those options. The remote start function was a bit more difficult to wire up in conjunction with the immobilizer (without comprising it's effectiveness). My model has the ability to send to the remote the interior temperature of the car (pretty useless but I really like this feature and use it all the time) and battery voltage of the car.
