Not the same architecture. But the 164 sedan and 405 were both styled by Pininfarina at the same time ... and he pretty much duplicated the design.
The point I was trying to make (unsuccessfully!) is that if you love the design of the 164 but want a car that's easier to live with and handles better, then check out the Mi16
