The question was "WTF were you thinking?"

This morning it was raining, which in Southern California is a big deal. So on my way to work before dawn, I approached an always-dicey intersection where two lanes of traffic stream off the freeway, down the off ramp, with two lanes turning right onto a surface street. Everyone's in a hurry so the red light is more of a suggestion than anything else, but they usually stop. In those two right turn lanes, with a large vehicle in the left lane blocking the right lane's view, they can't see a thing. I came through thinking that it was ripe for a bonehead in the right lane to pull out blind onto the wet street - he did. I'm glad to report that the ABS on my truck works, and even better, came within about 2 feet of the Miata's door. I'm sure my horn sounded pretty loud through his fabric convertible top but the driver didn't react. I'm also sad to report that there won't be another Miata parts donor appearing on the market for race or Locost builders - today at least. Some other time I guess.

It always amazes me that anyone would pull out when they absolutely cannot see what's coming.

For someone that dumb, he'll die in a much more dramatic fashion.

Whats even better is being in the right lane, waiting for the jerk on the left who pulls so far out you can't see, only to have the happy shiny person behind you start blaring the horn!

That's a little scary - when driving the Miata, I always drive as though it were a bike, what with the size of cars and the preponderance of SUVs nowdays.

As a side note, almost all the left hand turn lights in this town come on after the intersection turns red (this being Tucson, I think there's 1 in town that's before - no need to be consistent or anything...). Once the arrow is red, it's at least a couple seconds before the other direction light turns green.

Which means if you're turning left in front of me, you've blown that red arrow by a LOT.

I therefore start to slowly creep out, and lay on the horn as they pass in front of me.

I once drove by a fatal at a blown light, not 10-15 feet away was someone who thought they were going for coffee or something that morning, dead.

Idiots. And I used to be one... (well, still am, but...)
