Can you believe they doubled the LMP1 field by adding just one car! Most diverse pro road racing series in the US for sure!

Hey now, the GT2 field is AMAZING. I really think they should hold GT only races at some of the tracks, it would be pretty cool to see them all going for it, not worrying about the LMPs going through.
Actually, they increased it another 50%. The Cytosport Aston Martin-Lola is still running as far as I know.
Once Grand-Am gets their GT class rolling with the 3 manufacturers that are coming soon...

No way, the traffic totally adds to the excitement. Just when you think you've got things figured out, a GT car gets in the way or an LMP1 car comes barreling out of nowhere and screws up your line. I'll never stop watching F1 because it's crack and I'm hooked. But ALMS is the greatest racing ever... AND they come to your back yard, not just at 4AM in Japan or Bahrain or some crap.
Not at all of them, just a select few. Some of the most exciting GT action I have seen was at Long Beach where there was only 1 LMP car running the whole race.

Fair enough. I think the main appeal of LMP cars for me is that I get to sit there in person and watch them rape turns at twice the speed that would make my car go flying off the road. This video still makes me poop my pants a little every time I see it:

I completely agree. LMP was great when it was great. The Audi Vs. Porsche battles, especially at Detroit and Laguna (circa 2008 iirc), and the later Porsche Vs. Acura Vs. Acura Vs. Acura battles were absolutely EPIC! I wish they would come back...
And this years Le Mans fight was one for the ages. There is certainly a place for LMP style racing, but apparently that place is not North America...
ALMS is one series worth watching, where else can you get superstars running multi-million dollar prototypes against privateers running (relatively) low-buck cars on the same track, at the same time, day and night over time spans that would count as multiple races for other race series? I have to thank the French for being a tad crazy and inspiring the American version
