Along the lines of what have you done with your father,
Yesterday I turned 45, and my wife gave birth to our baby girl, she's our second child.
Today my dad held her.
I couldn't have dreamed a better birthday present.
That's all, a little bragging, a little teary eyed, growing up dad broke my balls, but watching him with his first grand daughter was worth it all!

Lucky. My dad never got to see his grandson. Take care of yourself, warpedredneck; my dad passed at 55.
The moment that my daughter was born, I suddenly understood why my dad was always so forgiving of all my older sister's nonsense.
Congratulations.
Congratulations. My mom passed 8 weeks after my first son was born but seeing my dad with the kids is one of my great joys.
Congratulations. I was lucky enough to have one living grandfather for a few years. Your kids are lucky.

Ditto me - dad went at 54 due to a heart attack. The one thing that bothers me is that he never got to see my 2 boys and they never got to see him.
My parents had me at a very young age, my wife and I waited to have kids later, having said that, I grew up with great grand parents, great aunts & uncles, grand parents, the works, I've been blessed to say the least, thanks folks, I treasure every time my boy (& now girl) gets to spend time with "bompa & nana".
Congrats!
We have 4 grand kids. We just took them to the beach for a week.
I really love my kids (and my sons-in-law), but there's nothing like grand children.
My dad died the spring before I met the girl who became my wife in the fall (in 1972). I hate she never got to meet him or the children we had.
Fortunately I had a great relationship with her parents. Her dad was like a second dad to me.
Almost two years ago my daughter gave us a grandson from a relationship with a crazy SOB. Man has that turned out to be fun. The grandson is one of the handsomest kids I've ever seen. (Yea I know I'm biased). We are having fun helping to raise him and messing with his head. He is very inquisitive and smart, he just won't talk. I am afraid my daughter will be moving away soon, but I hope to make sure my grandson knows how to work on cars, plant a garden and do man stuff.
