I've wanted to stop at this place for years, always driving by it on our way to the NC outer banks on vacation but always with wife/baby in the car, so no stopping to look :(
Anyhow, today I finally ran up there by myself to check it out. It's a car restoration place, but they also have a huge lot of old cars (mostly American, but a few imports) in varying states of decent, decaying, or pretty much goners. Chatted with the owner a bit - turns out he owns 2 restaurants in Va. Beach area and used to own a strip club that I used to bike by as a child, lol.
Anyhow, the place is in NC, just a few miles south of the VA/NC border on Rt 168 (coastal).
I just took a bunch of pics. Did ask him about what he'd ask for the Datsun 1600 Fairlady, which had a ton of rust, and he said something about $3k, which I tried not to chuckle at, seeing as he was a nice guy and pretty damn big too :)
Some pics for you guys. There were about a dozen different vintage Mustangs varying from very good to dreadful condition.
Fairlady 1600
Opel GT
Awesome ZAV-wagon with manual roll-down rear window
No zombie could ever stop this. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'd limp away as fast as they could if this was in the neighborhood.
another 1600, non-fairlady
aww yeah. I can see some hippie smoking pot while driving it
ghia
This was probably so super pimp in 1982
There were several Corvairs there, including this nice-condition sedan and a wagon (never seen a corvair waggy before), also in restorable shape. I stupidly didn't get a shot of the wagon, grr....
in case anyone wants location/contact info
