So I saw one of the Alpina versions of a BMW just randomly tooling around today. Beautiful shape, bright white, loudish exhaust, younger dude driving it. I looked up pictures on Google, because I thought the most common Alpina was the B6 and it was 3-series based, but this one was big enough that from far away and from the front I thought it was an original M5 or an 635csi. Did they make an Alpina model based on the 5-series? If they did, I saw one.

FWIW I vaguely remember a 633 Alpina from 'round 1980 or so...

Alpina has built many different models based on many different BMW's, including the 5-series (B5/B7/B9/B10).

In reply to Twin_Cam:

Alpina has worked over pretty much everything BMW has sold since the early 1970's.

I'm pretty sure that they sold pats individually, too. I remember them on just about everything.
