I'm debating on selling my 93 Mercury Capri XR2 and buying a '87 Conquest Tsi. Car runs, stops, and runs well. Buying from a walking on starquests.I've always wanted one and besides needing a basic tuneup, tires and a headlight motor seems ready to go. Input? I do all my own wrenchwork, just leary of something new.

I've always wanted one. The tough part is that it goes like this:

Wow, those are neat cars. A few mods to the suspension to tighten it up, then maybe a T5 swap and a big turbo. That or a V8.

And then I think, great, any car at all can follow that same recipe and be lighter and stuff.

But I still want one.

Aren't the engines in those not terribly great? Like tbi turbo and heads that crack really easy? They look cool, but I'm not that impressed.

Jet valves in the heads crack. They can be built without and those guys are pushing 300hp out of mostly stock stuff, pretty impressive for me.
