SVreX is correct. If you make payments that you can afford, every month on time.. the big huge number goes down some and eventually you can get somewhere. With the way out of line pricing hsopitals use, you can be sure that bill of 500K is not really that high and eventually they will pay it off.. but it will take years of proving you are ready and willing to pay.

give them a call.. tell them your situation.. they will work with you

I had an employee who had a wage garnishment of under $10 per week for a hospital stay. I asked the sheriff who served the papers how much was owed. Our payroll system would automatically shut off when the total deduction was reached. He told me if this guy lived to be 300 years old, he still wasn't making a dent in the debt. The hospital had to take what was ordered, and couldn't do anything else. The advice to pay something regularly is the some of the best advice I've seen on this forum.
