i just recive some an 6 fittings.. question... without the hose on the fittings.. the threading is very loose..... i can amost oull them apart by hand,, and when i try to tighten them up the will not lock up togeather,,i do not belive this is normal,, please help, thank you
Are you sure they are both the same size and both acutually AN fittings? What brand are they and where did you buy them from? What's most important is that you are able to get the taper on the tip to seat and seal to the female fitting. If you aren't able to tighten them without the threads slipping then that is a big problem.
Definitely something is wrong. That nut must tighten down. Or rather the fitting must tighten... up?
What hose system are those design for? They're not all the same and they're not all interchangeable.

It generally takes a fair amount of effort to screw the fitting onto the nut when the hose is there (the threads are helping you to get the male part into the inside of the hose and it's a tight fit). If you're saying that the nut will pull off after the first few threads are engaged, then it is not going to work. Aeroquip and Earl's are what I think of as the best quality fittings but I've used Jeg's and Summit Racing store brands and have never had an issue with any of them. Perhaps you've found a brand that we should all stay away from.
