Miata!

My grandfather and I just picked up a used '99 for my dad's birthday. It's in good shape and has been well cared for. It's showing a bit of wear about normal for a 127k car. Got a good price and it's a nice car with all of the options. I actually think I prefer by base model '94 though. I can feel the extra difference in weight, and I don't feel quite as connected to the road in the later car.

He's out of town right now, so he'll be getting the car later this week (although his birthday is in a month).

Ever since doing his first track day in my car, my dad has wanted a Miata. Now he will have one. Rollbar, a bit more suspension, some fluid changes, and it will be all ready to go!

I'm looking forward to getting out to events with him.

for a '99 vs '94, any perceived difference in weight and road feel is likely due to the condition of the tires and age of the suspension. stock for stock, the cars should be very similar in their road manners. a grand worth of suspension and tires should make the car pretty stellar.
