Lets say you start with a first gen Camaro. The front end is destroyed. Can you fab a new front subframe that ties into the original floor pan/rear frame? Or do you have to find another original front clip? Thanks.

fab FTW, because it allows you do convert to R&P, relocate control arm mounts for better camber control, put motor mounts wherever you want them, etc
Fabsolutely, my understanding of the "original body" rule is to keep people from entering tube framed cars skinned with production body panels.
What you're talking about is very much in the spirit of the event.
i'm all for the fabbing too! much more interesting that way. i think the only limitation is that the body panels (fenders, grill, and hood, etc) must be present. i think there is leeway for alteration to fit any new suspension/ subframe modification you make provided it is to fit the altered products and not just to eliminate weight.
Sounds good so far! Before I proceed with a Challenge build(already bought the hulk), I'll wait for an "official" confirmation-if there is such a thing. I think we'd be the first to show up with a early Camaro, no?

Cool. We've ben wanting to do this for years. Never had a suitible car and we are on the west coast. Time to start assembling our band of merry men. I think we can even stay within budget, God willing and the river don't rise(to quote the Duke). Have access to some pretty talented folks-they'll be working for pizza, they just don't know it yet.

Does that bumper sticker seriously say "Brake for Angels" on it? I can't remember. I do remember finding a plaque in the quarter panel that belonged on a gravestone. 
I also remember that on a cold New Year's Day you and I pulling the 307 block out of that thing with a chain and a dumbbell bar and then dragging it with a chain around your yard full tilt, with "Magic Fingers", your 1985 Chevy truck.

Yeah it would. Well, considering we have a shell(but, a really good one!), we have a ways to go. Stuff seems to cost more out here and we don't have access to all the stock/sprint car swap meets, so some creative bargaining/grinding is in store for us. Fabricators, designers and painters? No problem. Working on a theme already.
