I saw a manual one of these on CL yesterday. I was very tempted.
Edit - It is an '88. Here is linky:

Was tempted to get that too and its so close by. Nice find on the '91 btw... i do prefer the later 740/940.
Wow that's close to me too! Hi neighbor! lol
but seriously, why does it have mud/snow tires?
what kind of gas mileage are you folks getting with these?
I am in no position for another car right now but i looked on CL anyways

Its a very easy job, remove the heatsheild(3 bolts) and loosen the jam jut on the wastegate rod, pull the clip and turn the clevis(not the rod itself) to shorten the total lenght. You may need to heat the jam nut and clevis as its likely seized.
For the record I turned mine 4.5 turns and it is much improved without boost coming in too early-hard on connecting rods.Still a little lag of course but its no longer getting beat to the other side of an intersection automatic chevettes and other speedy critters like that.
not as cheap (free) but a ball/spring MBC set to stock boost would do the job...
looks like they are going for about $20 on ebay now... can be built cheaper

the ball/spring will hold the WG closed till it can push past the spring pressure... but they are known to spike a little bit (no biggie if you aren't bumping pressure to much)... turboXS makes one that is a hybrid with a ball/spring for "coarse" adjustment and then a bleed valve for fine tuning... I did that with the 2 I had laying around... did a good job at holding the 16psi... till the trans started slipping lol.

I was getting between 17-19 mpg with my 92 740 Turbo wagon. I've heard as high as 23 is possible.
Awesome, thanks Kevlar and Donalson. This is bookmarked for when I get around to engine work on the Volvo. Still have a couple suspension bits to sort out, including IPD sway bars. I ordered them before realizing how involved they are to install!
... i've been getting mid 17's mostly in town driving... with a trans that just doesn't want to shift right... acts like 2nd isn't even there unless I force it... think it might have to do with the lucas... but its still better then it was (slipping under part throttle)...
want to say I was getting lower 20's before the trans issue... apparently "TLOA chips" tend to help with MPG a big.. i've only got the fuel (and a HItunning ignition which is little more then rev limiter removed from what I understand)... er anyway once I get the trans replaced i'll prob snag a TLOA ignition chip and see what happens vs the HItunning :)
Too bad you're so far away, there's a 940 in the local picknpull and they're really reasonably priced on transmissions. But Florida is a bit of a hike from Ohio for a cheap part!!

That's where the one in the car came from! It was just over $105 (they charge extra and an extra core charge for the converter, losers)
I've. Got a spare sitting in the garage.... Just need to install lol..... But ya they run about 100 at the local Pnp under $50 if I drive the hr to mobile
