Have a friend with a 99 Sport with just over 100k on the odometer. Recently blew a radiator and did get hot but not pegged or for any length of time. Replaced radiator, cap, thermostat and hoses. After (hopefully) getting all the air out temp stays in the normal range now and no loss of power. However, coolant is disappearing. More than comfortable, like a quart after 30 minutes of driving. Doesn't appear to be going into the oil. Doesn't smoke either. Any guesses on where the coolant is going and how easy it is to fix? Read: also cheap to fix. He's about ready to give up and has offered the car to me for a good price if it's easy to fix. It will also come with 2 sets of wheels, the stock 15" alloys and a set of 10AE wheels on it.

Headgasket went between the fire ring and the combustion chamber, so one cylinder is getting steam cleaned. Only a matter of time until the leak becomes more pronounced and the car becomes a mosquito fogger.

So what your saying is this might be worth the somewhere between $2000 - $2500 he's thinking. It's in very nice shape otherwise. Put a headgasket on it and go? He's tired of putting money into it. Especially since this was his "economy" car, he also has a truck and a C6 Roadster.

Yeah, headgasket, make sure the head isn't warped and it should be good to go.

I agree. Head gasket plus a trued head will cure all of it. Tell him that the car is crap and buy it.
