I tried the flower car route...and the old school ambulance route...no dice.

The funny part is a few years ago I bought a used Suburban. Base model, rubber floors, no rear seats (center or rear) from the factory. Contractor truck right? but it was 8 years old and clean as the day it rolled off the showroom. Yeah, it was a....um...."transport vehicle" thankfully she never caught on.

Bug.

Although the Pacific Coast would leave more garage space for a Formula Car project...

you are incorrigible Woody ;)

I've been following that particular bug for about 3 months now. No top to it but I think I'd wanna chop the windshield and build a carson top for it anyway... pop the motor in my wifes Thing and pop a subie motor in that. In case y'all havent guessed Im fully sold on the subie motors in bugs concept now.

what price range are you looking in? Good bodied/running late 60s-early 70s caddy deville convertibles run in the 4-6k range (waaaaay underpriced IMO) but no one wants huge gas guzzling cars. I think they're art on wheels...

$500 Miata + LSx

Duh.

And shame on the rest of you for not pointing this out!

Similar thoughts had crossed my mind when I found yet another $500 miata last week, sold before I could get to it though.

Turns out my neighbor and local Studebaker enabler has the answer sitting in his driveway right now, 'cept the price is wrong. Just bought 5 cars (4 Studebakers and a Pacer wagon with 3800 miles on it) from an estate. The one car he has at the house is a 61 Hawk with a V8 and 4 speed with 70k original miles, nice toy, would do well, except for that $9000 price tag.

Oh it turns out those "other AMCs" the lady has that I mentioned earlier? Anyone want some low mileage excellent condition 4x4 Eagle wagons? Gonna try to get him to take me there Saturday.

At least 2, possibly more, neighbor didnt pay much attention because he didnt think they were worth anything. Crossing my fingers for some manual transmission goodness. Not really a car Im interested in but I'll pass along whatever I can find out to the crew here.

Holy Crap I leave the internet for a half week and you sell the studie and almost buy something else .... and an AMC for that matter!!!

I didn't even get a change to vote ... You know I told you I Want a SX4 (manual only please) ... if you see one pick it up!!!

I don't think you've had an AMC yet ??? (...Checking the list now) ... hmmm looks like it's time to find the deal of the century, make it work, then sell it to me at a small profit because you're bored!

So my list for you to buy is as follows ... 1970's IH Scout (V8 only, not too much rust.) AMC SX4 (already mentioned), Xr4ti (another one missing from your list), or a P-car (928 or 9X4 could be done)

Check that list again, 1960 Rambler Amercian. They were an AMC product by that time.

hmm...maybe I should look for missing marques in my list and round out the gap.

Our 86 GT convertible we took on BABE in 07 was an excellent hoonmobile, but nothing I really have an interest in for long term ownership.

That is what my sisters mini van was used for before she got it. Fun part is when the drivers seat gets "kicked" from behind, when there is no one in the back.
