so i purchased a 64 el camino yesterday. i all excited.
the thing is going to stay a bench seat, but the factory bbench just isnt all that comfortable.
i would like to find a bench that has some creature comforts. 60/40 split would also be a possibility.
needs to have lumbar and reclinable back. everything else is optional.
any ideas? maybe lincoln or something? cheaper the better, and ore prevalant is easier. i have lincoln mk8 buckets in my dusterm and would love something similar in bench style for the elky.

The foam and springs in the original bench are probably pretty tired, it may be simpler to rebuild it rather than trying to get something else to fit. Also, upholstery kits for them should be pretty inexpensive and easy to find since the seat is basically the same as a Chevelle.
In the old days we would slip a few washers under the front seat mount bolts to get a little better angle on the seat back, since it's an El Camino you aren't going to be able to recline very much.
90s GM full size FWD cars, Bonneville if you want a sports couch, Buick/Olds if you want a normal 60/40 couch. I think La-Z-Boy did those seats. I dont think they have lumbar, but you dont need it with these.
The bench seats on the GM trucks with the Silverado package from 88-94 were fantastic...
Almost any large GM car from the 70's into the 90's should have what you are looking for.
Mid 90's Town Car split bench is a pretty comfy place to lounge
ok, stupid question #2: if i do find a comfy bench, or rebuild the one thats in it, and it doesnt have lumbar, is there a lumbar retrofit that i could add to the drivers side?
and ill look through the GM FWD stuff, as well as the full size fords next time im down at the yard. (getting serpentine, power steering, and EFI for it)

Town Car has adjustable lumber, and about anything else a seat ever had fitted
