I was looking around for seat covers for the Volvo Miata. I can find a few vendors on Ebay, but nobody selling the original black cloth covers. The under $200 price for "Real Leather" also makes me suspicious of quality.
Is there a reputable source for the seat covers?
Good question! I'm watching with interest.. I'd love to recover my 91 tan leather seats with tan cloth.
Crazy Red Italian for leather. He can do suede inserts and the like. They're Katzkin seats, so you can get them "gathered" or tight. Don't mind the vintage website or the questionable taste of the examples in the photos, it's a one-man shop. http://crazyred.com/
Go to a local upholstery shop, see what they can do.

Local upholstery shop wants a bit over $1000 to do both seats in vinyl. While I am suspicious of the quality of the E-bay $200 kits, I ain't going to the opposite end of the scale.

Ooo... Those are nice. I may still DIY my own covers for the Miata seats I have for my Spitfire or GT6, but he's definitely an option. I want tan leather with tan houndstooth inner panels (the OE design for a '79 Spit). They'd make the Triumph people go, "wait... wha?"
I've installed a few sets of the Katzkin seats in Miatas (and one set in an NSX, oddly). Nice stuff.

The Katzkin coverslook like what I need. Guess I can see how the local shop ends up at $1000 by the time he gets them here and does the work to install them.
Anyone bought the E-bay $200 versions?

Have you considered just buying a nice set of used seats?

It is a thought, but they are not as thick on the ground this side of the border. Keep in Mind that the Molvo is not really going to be a true Grassroots budget. Momma wants her toy to look nice.
