Ive got a 76 Caddy with stock wheels and hub caps. The tires are pretty sketch so thought it might be a good time to see what junkyard options are out there.

Um, which 76 caddy is 115 and not 5"?

Maybe he meant '86?

In any case, I use this website when I want to look up wheels.  Usually works out for me.

I was told by a online tire/wheel retailer that 114.3mm can fit on 115mm hubs. I was skeptical, but bought a set of winter steel wheels and they worked out.

FYI, 5x114.3 and 5x115 are the same thing. GM sold the hubs with the same part number for both patterns. The way 5-lug is measured is from the far side of one lug to the middle of the one opposite meaning that the difference between the sizes is actually in half, or 0.35 mm, which is about the thickness of your beard hair.

My car is a 1976 Cadillac Calais. I never heard of it, but wiki says it was its own distinct model, the base Cadillac.

Roadkill customs does not show anything for a 76 Cadillac Calais but shows a 1985 Deville as being a 5x115 and the 79 El Dorado as 5×4.75.

Guess I'll need to do some measurin'.

It's the below deville base model caddy, but the same car otherwise.  It will be 5x5 which opens you to every gm full size 71-96(minus 77-90 civilian caprice sedans which are 4.75) and 73-98 chevy trucks and all astro vans to 2002.  Plenty of good looking wheels.  You could go painted pickup rallys, 90-95 sport/454ss chrome steelies, astros got some good chrome wheels, impala ss wheels can take late 90's caddy center caps.  At some point recently some jeeps went 5x5

even some 70's big ford products had 5x5 and were available with some excellent aluminum turbine wheels from the factory.

Got a pic of it?  I love Calais models because they usually didn't have the vinyl top.

Why would someone use wood?! This will be changed as soon as the plasma axe gets fixed.

I really like the interior even though it is quite faded.

Just a quick PSA... if you're doing one of those wheel swaps where the bolt pattern is just a smidge different, try to find hubcentric adapters.

It might not seem like much when you're dealing with a 0.3mm difference, but the wheel will center on the first lug nut that is tightened and pull it off-center by a wee little bit.  It doesn't seem like a bad thing to have a 0.3mm wobble, but at 65 mph, it can be a big deal.

Just because it fits over the lugs doesn't mean it's good.  There is also a lug reliability issue that also isn't a huge deal, but when you tighten the lugs, you are pulling the studs sideways by a wee bit.

Hah thanks! I kinda have no choice though, the wood does not even reach the floor so there is no way i can seal out the weather. Its 19.5 feet long so i gotta park it outside.

So far the carpet is smoked, but the electric seat only moves about .25 of an inch due to rust so i cant access the bolts to clean and fix it.

I have an old (96) F150 that measures out pretty well so i think that is going to be the donor for the rear.

GMT400 SS / Sport chrome steel wheels would probably look great on that car.

full stop here.....

All RWD Caddys up through 76 had 5x5 pattern, which is also sometimes listed as 5x127mm.  Digging around on the RoadkillCustoms website, it looks like it is broken.  I see things that aren't true and I can't trust it right now.

Your wheel pattern is 5x5.  Period.  You can double check by measuring from the outside of one lug to the center of a diagonal lug, but it's 5x5.

Your choices will come from the second most common lug pattern in North America, second only to 5 x 4.75.

GM, Mopar, Jeep, Ford, even Volkswagen used it on the Routan.

Happy hunting.

Talk about burying the lede. You didn't even mention it was converted to a ute in the first post! cheeky

I also like how they made it so that the speakers are visible out the back of the wood panel laugh

Other than the wood it doesn't look like a half bad conversion.  The lines flow much better than most home built ones.  I love the classsic 70s Cadillac interior.

Now knowing what we're working with you need 15x8 truck rallys with trim rings, caddy logos on the center caps, and 275/60 white letter tires
