With some modicum of luck, I'll have the bad 4.3 pulled from my new 2000 Blazer by the end of the week and have it ready for a new engine. This however is a job that is definitely better off not tackled alone and due to the short notice my usual partners in crime at doing this sort of thing already have plans. So, I figured I'd see if any other GRMers nearby were free and interested in helping.
Ideally the plan would be to head out to Louisville as early as possible to hit the ISA U-Pull-It and pull an engine from a vehicle there- I'm hoping to get out there Friday afternoon to look over the choices and pick out a good candidate and possibly do some initial prep work to make Saturday easier. Load the engine up and head back to Lexington and get it installed into the Blazer. Will be a bit longer of a day if I've not gotten the old engine completely out, but shouldn't add entirely too much time. I'll take care of any food/drinks over the course of the day.
Experience at doing this sort of thing would be great (doubly so if you know the engine/vehicle well), but far from necessary- the extra hands & muscle are mainly what I need and I'm more than happy to help get new shadetree mechanics a bit more comfortable with the nitty gritty of this sort of thing. Thanks!
