Driving the wife's '14 Koup I realize how much I like tech stuff. backup camera, streaming audio wirelessly through the phone, the 3-flash turn signals, the auto up AND down on the windows..... I could get used to being pampered like that.

I have a 2008 Kia Rondo with 125,000 miles on it.  The Rondo is actually based on the Optima platform, but with a massive increase in height.  Mine is an LX with the 2.7L V6.  I used the 10-year, 100,000 mile warranty once to replace bad fuel injectors around 80,000 miles.  Three went bad, the other three are still fine.

Other things that have gone wrong are the parking position sensor, a $20 plastic switch in the shifter (on automatic cars) and the gearbox on the rear wiper, another easy fix to replace a worn plastic gear. The worst thing was that I had a coil spring on the front driver side fail at about 75,000 miles. It just snapped while in the driveway. This released the pressure on the coil which took out the brake lines and the strut. I pulled another complete strut/coil unit from a Rondo in a U-Pull-It yard for $35 and bought new brake lines from Rock Auto for $25. While a fiddly job to connect the line to the ABS module, it has been running fine since.

I am seeing some rust bubbling up on the rear quarters, but this is PA after all. The front sub-frame has rusted the worst of all and after patching it once, it will need replacement before 2019 inspection.  The rest of the body looks fine except for the many bruises and scrapes it has endured.  The interior is also holding up fine, the tan cloth seats respond well to being cleaned at the detailers. Despite using it like an F-150, nothing inside has snapped off yet.  I have also used it to tow quite a bit and the transmission has held up great.  We also add a cargo box to the roof rack and stuff it to the brim for vacations, and it has never skipped a beat.

My wife also put about 100,000 miles on a Kia Soul. Never had an issue, traded it in and it was so clean and ran so well they detailed it and resold in within a week.  I drive like every road is the Nurburgring, so I hated the shifter in that thing, she drove like she was commuting to work and never had a problem.  Whatever.  Point is, we love Kias and they have been good to us.
