This is a silly question, but I'm wondering if there are any real downsides going from a +55 to a +48 offset?
I'm thinking about picking up a set of OZ Ultraleggera 17x8 wheels to mount my stock Dunlop summer tires to in the spring. The new wheels would have identical dimensions to my OEM wheels (17x8), but would be 6-7 lbs lighter per corner and the offset is +48 (vs +55 stock).
Any real changes in wheel bearing longevity?
Anything else I should be concerned with?
It seems like a pretty insignificant difference in offset (7mm), but I figured I would ask.
Thanks in advance!

That's not that big a difference. I think the 2002-2003 BBS wheels that were an option for the WRX had a 48 offset, and I'm almost positive that's the stock Forester offset. Foresters and the WRX use the same hubs and bearings.
If you want to make yourself feel better, look up what the stock offset for the Forester and Legacy are for your model year of WRX, and figure if the factory put wheels with that offset on there, you should be fine.
Dropping weight should help a little too I would imagine

Just over a quarter inch, I wouldn't imagine that to make much a difference at all.

Just looked it up; you are correct sir. It looks like the 2014+ Forester XT and the 2013+ Legacy both have +48 offsets. Although they do have less wheel width than my OEM WRX wheels (7-7.5" vs 8").
So, the general consensus is that it shouldn't be a problem? Thanks guys!
I agree with the "insignificant" assessments.

agreed. unless you were already too dang close on rubbing a tire I can't see how it would matter.
