I’ve been following the new TVR Griffith and just love it. 500hp ford v8 built by cosworth, 6-Speed manual, lightweight, 50/50 weight balance, etc.
hasnt been much media about it but I’m excited to see them hit the road.

decent looking. pricey i'm sure. used to love the hairy arsed race series in the uk until they put fugly big spoilers on to tame the handling then it became just like every other run on rails road racing snooze fest.
New factory being built in Wales is seriously behind schedule, partly 'cause of Brexit.....
who the heck owns Trevor nowadays? still the Russian adolescent oligarch? or has he moved on to soccer clubs?
Was there any detail on weight? Dare I ask about the price?

I think they are coming in just over 100k and owned by a British guy now. Should come in around #2,700.
It's cool and all, but are they planning on exports to USA? I'll probably never see one anyways...

Damn 500hp 2700lbs 100k isn't bad odds at all!

Sounds like we’ll see them imported here. I’m sure I’ll never see one either, just think they’re cool.

If you'll accept $20k less expensive, I can get one for you now. Also available as a soft top that's 100 lbs lighter.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
If I had the money I would've given it to you already. Lmao
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Love the v8 Miata’s, but I’d pay the 20k extra to have a TVR if I had the cash.
sorry Keith but I'm single. Trevor would be my wingman. Once married I'd trade in for the Meeotter.
Specs look great, price isn't terrible for what you get, and it's a good looking car although I kind of wish it were less smiley and more insane, like the Sagaris.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Wait, a v8 ND is 80k?

Yes, assuming you start with a brand new car. Your only other option for something with similar specs is...a TVR :)

Out of curiosity - why? This new one doesn't have a bonkers 'glass body, a completely incomprehensible interior or a bespoke hand grenade of an engine. Those are all the things that set TVR apart in the 90's.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Because at the end of the day a Miata with a V8 is a Miata with a v8. I think the cars you guys put out are fantastic but they aren’t a TVR.
That's not an answer. What is a TVR? What's so special?
Those who have driven the V8 NDs know that it's not just "a Miata with a V8". It's a complete car on its own, and it's a modern car. It's not comparable to the earlier generations with V8s stuffed inside.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
I’m sorry if I came off a little offensive there. I know you’re incredibly passionate about the product you turn out, and you should be. I understand that in many ways your cars are more than the sum of their parts. But at the end of the day I like the TVR more. I like the engine they use better, I like the styling, the interior layout. This doesn’t mean it’s better than a flying Miata car, just that I like it more.
if it tells you anything I’d rather drive a mint BEAMS powered AE86 than either...hell even an GLH-T Omni would be hard choice. If I like something I don’t have to justify it. If I say something is objectively better I do.
Either way I appreciate all the answers you’ve given me and think FM is an awesome company.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
So, an RF which is like 30k and another 50k for the swap. I honestly thought it was 25-30k ontop of the car price. Whew! Out of my league lol
In reply to 80sFast :
Nicely worded response. Though I don't think you have anything to apologize about. TVR builds cars that spark the imagination of your inner 13 year old. Something about the aggressively scalloped body design and the bonkers looking interior makes you feel like you're getting into the bastard lovechild of a racecar and a spaceship.
It looks like they've toned down the styling a bit but in my eyes the new Griffith clearly retains these qualities. With Gordon Murray's firm designing the chassis and the Coyote under the hood, this one might actually work as a car too.

TVR --- Making V8 Miatas look like sleepers since before there were V8 Miatas
Given the choice I'd call Keith and have a V8 miata
Thanks, 80s. It's a serious question because I want to know why people would prefer a TVR over our offerings. This new car isn't a TVR in any real way - (relatively) sedate styling, a non-TVR engine, a normal interior. The only thing that makes it TVR is the badge. All of the reasons you gave for why you'd prefer this car to one of ours would still be true if this was badged as a Stutz. But it's somehow got some sort of magic sprinkles that make people think it's better, and I want to see if those magic sprinkles can be applied to a custom car built on high quality roots instead of a small volume manufacturer that bought a name.

Is this an option? Would love to tell people I drive a "new" Stutz Blackhawk.

I believe that for folks that can afford something like this, it's has an aggressive look that can't be pulled off in a mass market vehicle, and something different than 99% of what is seen on the road. I can put a V8 in an MX-5 or a 350Z, or an STi motor in an FRZ, but they are still recognizable as mass market vehicles.
