Not taking any time off, just the work holiday 3 day weekends for xmas and new years. Would like to organize my garage and finish unpacking from moving last month and change out the diff fluid in my IS300 DD and finger out why I'm getting piss poor MPG.

I'm still tearing apart the vette. Be nice to get the exhaust, C-beam and driveshaft out, and get the engine/trans on the floor.

Then finish disassembly and roll it outside for a little while.

My project cars (mighty dak and MX3) are parked for the winter. But this week I noticed (in horror!) that there was surface rust all over the cylinder walls of my KLZE parts engine. Stupid ass, I'd forgot to store it with fogging oil. Applied a liberal coating of rust remover, then scrubbed with a clean rag. Worked like a charm. Oh, did I mention that I did that on the kitchen counter? Sometimes, being single is great.

I'm putting a Northstar into a Fiero and a V6 into a Beetle, hopefully. I get a whole week off to do it, too...woohoo!

Way too long. At least the hinges have been modified to fit, and the front sides of them have been mounted. The entire back of the door frame is done. The top and bottom tubes are bent, but still need to be trimmed to the right size.

Then there's tacking it all together (this time starting at the bottom and making sure that I have clearance WITH THE SKIN ON[*]) before everything is welded up tight.

[*] - That idea is new

Port and polish the heads for my EJ engine build and rebuild a power steering pump for a friend. I am also thinking about welding on a new muffler but...meh...if I get around to it.

Been in check signing mode. The shop is complete, minus wiring (30X34 with attic trusses on a 12?12 pitch). Digging trenches for wiring, then paying yet another guy to do the wiring. Also having original transmission rebuilt for the Swift(with a limited slip!). hoping to do a mild resto on it, and drive it by summer. Really, over the break, digging, pulling up unwanted hedges, getting organised. maybe half days for all this, but there is a 4 day weekend for X-Mas, and a friend is lending me a 4X4 john deere with a bow blade, and a scoop!

I have a freshly refurbished and painted 1968 MGB shell that needs to turn into a finished MGB. I Started vacation on the 19th and will be on this full time.

The good news is that the wife unit has a night shift on the 24th and will want to sleep on the 25th, so I wont lose momentum.

Don't be blaming this on me.

As far as projects, only two extra days off. One weekend will be out of town. The other, I'll be lucky to get the oil changed in the wagon. Probably spend it finding places to put stuff.

Are you installing any new shiny bits or just a refresh?

I should be rebuilding the engine out of my MGB. I spent too long deciding on which parts were going into that build and never got anything to the machinist. Looks distinctly like a 2012 project at this point. In the meantime I'll keep shopping for a Lotus.

Projects? Let me name the ways...

e30: alignment, oil pan gaskets, oil change, timing adjust, clean out the hvac system

subaru: finish wiring, reassemble the whole thing, plan out the y-pipe

garage: get all the spare engines/transmissions out, junk all the junk and sort all the treasure. sell treasure you don't want. consolidate everything

basement: clean it up and sort it all out

and during this time I will try to convince myself to NOT source a z3 rack to put in the e30, buy new springs, track down sway bars, do another megasquirt, etc etc
