If so, one of these years we need to do a GRM meet out there. Weather is looking good, 83 and partly cloudy for Saturday. The next few nights leading up to the weekend will be good there too.

i usually go on Wednesday night, park at the Kroger @ 13 mile, walk up and down a few miles -- get some exercise and see a ton of cool cars. Saturday before noon is also OK for actually cruising, but it gets really crowded in the PM.
This year, i'm not going tonight because I'm trying to wrap up the "2007 Mustang GT front brakes onto 1968 Mustang GT" project. got the brackets welded last night, so tonight's goals are assembly and brake bleeding. If that goes well, i'll reinstall the carburetor (had to get the OE part rebuilt, couldn't go aftermarket per the owner's wallet LOL) and go for a slow test ride to a nearby parking lot. goal is to have the car ready to cruise by saturday, as the owner's company has a parking lot on Woodward in Pontiac.
Anybody want to set a time for a get together?
Will there be room for several of us to meet up there?
Anybody want to hitch a ride?
If by room you mean to park, it's hard to say. On saturday there won't be great places to park in many spots. I live about a mile from the Kroger in question, I'll probably just ride my bicycle up there.
I live about 3 miles from that Kroger and went Monday night for some groceries. Parking lot was half-filled with a car show
I'm heading up to Birmingham tomorrow night and probably to Pontiac loop Saturday.
I haven't gone on a Saturday in 3 or 4 years. It's stupid crowded now. The last time I over-heated the clutch in the mini somethin' fierce. I bet I clutched and de-clutched 300 times between 12 and 13 mile.
I went last night. It was great. Parked at the 13 and Woodward lot.
Boost - I saw an orange Mini as I was driving past the Kroger lot today - you? Someone was also flat-towing an old Mini through my neighborhood a few weeks ago.
Think I will head over there both tonight and tomorrow evening (Thur and Fri) and finish it up on Saturday for the big one. Ya I am addicted, there's nothing else like it.
Never have really felt like driving an hour just to sit in an endless line of cars for a four hours and then drive an hour home, but I do feel like I'm missing out. I've never sat in a traffic jam with a bazillion pre-emissions control vehicles before. Kinda want to get a taste of what my folks were breathing back in the 60's.

for sure the best way to see it is from the sidelines. if you're in a car on woodward, you only see the two cars on either side of you as you creep forward at about one mile per hour. if one of those cars is a general lee, you will want to stomp a mudhole in the ass of the duke brother driving, and shove the dixie horn into said mudhole.
Would like to, but am in VT. In-laws live in Farmington Hills. So, for the next few weeks I'll be getting stories cut from the Free Press mailed to me. Oh yeah, the mother-in-law also likes to print out stories and mail them snail mail! Hasn't learned to link yet!

definitely keep her away from the hotlink thread.
I have a funeral to attend :(
I will be at the Metro Cruise in Grand Rapids the following weekend though. Our group will be putting on Autocross races Friday and Saturday nights as well. Should be a good time. :)

Nope, not me either time. Mine is red with a white top, white hood stripes and 4 fogs in front of the grill. Think Italian Job and your spot on.
And yeah, the best thing to do if you want to see it is either walk or bike the sidewalk, jump on the smart bus and get a ostrich-eye view, or the "loop" in Pontiac was nice last time I went. The cops aren't HUGE pricks there yet so you'll see some folks burnin' the skins every now and again.
Last time I took the mini down there I was in the #2 lane with a HUGE SUV in front of me, the Smart bus behind and some larger vehicles on either side of me. I didn't see anything for a mile!
The Woodward cruise is an automotive Mardi Gras. I don't think anyone wants to sit in hot traffic jam for hours on end. You cruise a little, sit a little and walk around a little. It's people and car watching at it's best. Vendors are there, the auto companies are there and best of all every kind of car and car club you can imagine (and a lot you can't) will be there. I am leaving to go there right now as the nights before are actually the best.
I'll be there, working. Usually I skip the dream cruise and only go to Woodward on every other weekend.
If you don't feel like sitting in traffic in your car, hop on one of the air conditioned buses provided by ....well, don't know who, really, but they're like tour buses where you sit quite high. The ride is free, hop on/off just about anywhere. Did I mention they have a/c?
I should qualify this by saying this was true several years ago. Hopefully they're being provided this year. And maybe they're just for Sat and Sunday. It's a great way to see the cars.
