In this case the 88 Yugo GV. It lost strong spark last year, a new coil made it run intermittently and not want to run under any load. Coils were sent out for testing by top men, my new one came back good, the old one bad. The PO also had the coil hooked up backwards, I followed this wiring, though this was prior to testing it, and it came back as still good.

I have ohmed the pickup as good and checked the connection by manipulating the advance with a screwdriver while ohming it.

The last thing it could be is the control module. It had a Bosch 0227100123, 6 pin in it. I tried a junyard Bosch 0227100124, 6 pin from an early 80s Volvo 2xx, based on interchange data for aftermarket units sold on rock auto, I now have no spark at all. I also have a fairchild 7 pin from an early 80s Rabbit, I haven't tried this one.

Am I incorrect in thinking all these 6/7 pin Bosch ignition modules interchange? I have confirmed power to the coil, haven't got an analog meter handy to check for pulsing, would a test light work?

There are two main versions that are dwell controlled internally, some not.

You should be able to ground the wire that goes to the hall trigger pin to generate spark on the coil wire to test it and the coil.

Is there a guide to this?
