For an instant I was blown away by the weight and thought, "They're making light car again!"... then I saw "FR". Geez, what's this tank weigh, about 4,200 lbs? Sports cars are now: "good suspension, and fast, but only because expensive tires cover the sins of excess mass."

"GAWR is Gross Axle Weight Rating – the maximum weight either axle can carry individually – and there will be a different rating for both the front and rear axles. Curb Weight is the weight of the vehicle in its running state, complete with oil and fuel, but without any passengers or cargo."

Motortrend weighed their automatic and got 3,597lbs.

A year+ later and I've seen a few but they're still pretty rare. I'm pretty sure I see at least 10, maybe 20 2.4L Toyobarus for every new Z-car.

Edit: And I'm sure 20+ C8s...

Nope, not one.  Lots and lots of late model Mustangs tho.

18 months later and I've seen just a couple. I actually have seen more Lamborghinis on the road.

In reply to GameboyRMH : I have seen a handful near me as well but not many. To use your metric, I probably see 30+ c8's per Z, 10+ cyber trucks per Z, 20+ gr86, etc.

its surprising how few I see honestly

I have never seen one. Cybertrucks, C8 Z06s, tons of Supras, and not a single Z. I think the Z is one of the coolest Nissans ever made. I hope they are selling tons of them... to someone... because it will be short lived if they stay rare.

I tried to see one at a dealer. They didn't have one. Just vans and... what normal cars does Nissan make now? Those. All in silver or shades of gray.

Huh.  Not yet.  And I work 300 feet from a Nissan store.

I think I've seen ONE, but honestly I barely remember it. I've seen more Ferraris, Cybertrucks, and even Hummer EVs than I have 400Zs since they came out.

I have counted three Z cars in the wild. One NISMO and 2 regular ones. There is one that lives around me now, at least I have seen the same one around town more than once.

What I'm seeing online is somewhere around 2,000 units sold, in total, so far in the US. That's abysmal. The Cybertruck sold 16,692 last quarter. Americans love trucks! The most 400z I've seen is at the dealership on the way to the kid's swim lessons. I've seen a couple around town but only once each.

Hey, I do have a photo. This Nissan Z was parked near me in the hotel garage.

I spotted a blue one locally over the weekend. That's two I've seen since they were released, and one of those two was a blue press fleet car. In fact, it's highly possible that the one I saw over the weekend WAS the press fleet car.

As I predicted, no one is buying these, probably due to a combination of the unpopularity of sporty coupes in 2024 and dealership shenanigans. Sad to see, since it is a pretty good looking car.

Aren't the Supras selling well? I mean, they're not ubiquitous, but they're also kind of expensive. I was watching a pair of Supras chase each other at the track this weekend. Not a single new Z. There were probably 5 or 6 Supras at the last SCCA track day I went to in October. No new Zs.

What are the dealerships shenanigans?

To date I have seen two (2) Zs in the wild, and I drive past a Nissan dealer every day.  I've never seen one on their lot or in their showroom.

The two I saw were the same color - one stock and one modified - and since I saw the stock one first and the modified one several months later, the possibility is strong that they were in fact the same car.

In reply to confuZion3 :

That is true, and I see tons of BRZ's and GT-86's on my commute, so maybe they ARE selling well. Just not the Z.

On the dealership stuff, well... it's Nissan. The ones around here are more concerned with selling Altimas and Talltimas (aka Rogues and Muranos) at crazy interest rates to people who probably shouldn't be buying them.

When they get a Z, they are likely overstating the market and pulling that Adjusted Market Value BS and marking them up thousands of dollars. I know they were doing that early on in most markets. I'm guessing they haven't backed off that tactic too much.

I think I remember seeing one on the road last summer.  Anyway my curiosity got the best of me so I did a quick search; the Nissan dealer a couple of towns over has one in the yellow pictured above and a 6 speed stick at that.  MSRP is $46,165 and they have it listed at just under $44K.  If I believe the site (Car Gurus) it looks like they've had it on the lot for 150 days so I'd guess they'd want to move it.  Tony's comment on them being more interested in the smaller cars and CUVs is spot on.  The nearby Toyata dealership has a used one with 45K miles on it for just over $34K (automatic and also yellow), not sure how long they've had it.

Yeah I've seen way more Toyobimmer Supras than new Zs, I'd say at least 6x as many (just over the last year).

I called the dealer in Kenosha, Wisconsin on the one showing the almost $7000 discount.

Sales guy said he wanted to be honest with me and I should expect to pay MSRP.

What are the discounts? Military, College Grad and a bunch more he didn't remember.  (???)  I'd have to come there to discuss any discounts - okay, I get it.

The only new Z I've seen in person was at an auto journalist drive event two years ago. I live in Atlanta but don't frequent any cars shows where they are probably showing up. It's just weird.

I've also not seen any "squinty spider eye" new Mustangs.

I have seen 10 INEOS Grenadiers in the wild, which is just weird.

And when I lived in Atlanta a million years ago, like everyone had a Z-car. We even had a few Z specialists in town.

My next door neighbor is finishing up a restoration of a 280z. Here in the triangle area of NC I see plenty of Nissans but have yet to see a new Z. Sad.

I know I have seen at least 10 or so, but now I have picked up that the few I know about I have seen multiple times. I know the number in my local area is more than that, but if they do get sold they don't seem to get driven much. I guess my question to the group is how long do yall think nissan will make this version of the Z before another redesign?
