Cliff notes: dealer keeps about 500 of the cars he doesn't sell over the years, from 1946-1996, and stashes them in different spots around a small Nebraska town. Some have less than 20 miles on them. Auction is next month.
Read that in the paper this morning.
NOS from when he closed the dealership and more.

...and it's only been posted about half a dozen times already. You need to read ALL the threads more often.
...and most of them have been sitting out in a field for decades, so they're totally roached out.

Sorry fellas. My pops told me about it this morning, so I posted it up in a hurry (post haste?) while I was on my way to the junkyard. After looking at the pre-auction pictures and descriptions, it seems most of these cars are going to be for the more in depth restoration shops. Boo.
they've been building up the hype over this on teh internets for a while now- a couple of months, at least..
Well I hadn't seen it before, so thanks for [re]posting!
Vanderbrink auctions has a newsletter that you should sign up for; she specializes in these types of auctions.
I hit one up in davenport 7 or 8 years ago at an impound lot that had been in business since the 20's; couldn't believe the awesome untouched stuff available. Mostly rusted out junk but still awesome to see.
At some point everything will have been posted leading to every conversation being reposted. So to post about a repost is redundant.
Did anyone see that Ken Block video?

I watched it before, something about Gymkhana in a flatbill cap with dead pixels? Patios are the answer? Bob Costas paddled a canoe to Berkeley? hell I dunno
History channel is taping the auction so we should be able to watch it later!

I signed up for online bidding, but quite a bit of it is going pretty high already (pre-bidding online has already started). Last I looked the Cameo was at 25k or so and the vette was around 35k. I think the hype and press is going to drive the prices up, so I doubt I'll actually end up with anything. I had my eye on a few of the lesser new cars, like the late 70s wagon and a couple of similar sedans.
