If I manage to get my car running and broken-in, I will be there.
Sounds like a nice birthday present to myself!!!
Standing mile land speed racing. A large airfield formerly used by DHL. Lots of really stout cars going very fast.

Wow! Sounds awesome!!
I need to get a rulebook, a set of leathers, and finish my bike. I'm attempting to be there... April is getting closer and closer.
I'll be doing it a few times this summer... not sure if April is on the cards yet, though.
I don't think the first shakedown event of the car should be "LET'S SEE WHAT SHE'LL DOOOOO!!!!!"
Not sure if we are going to go to this one. First event will be limited to 150 entrants. They want to shake the bugs out of the process.
Our new car is underway. We want to do runs in Ohio before we head to Loring. The old Stude will be brought back out at a later date with a small inch power plant.
not april but it is something i do plan to do this year, especially knowing i do not have to put in a roll bar to hit the speed i assume i would hit.

fixed :)
i want to take the impala. i know it jumps to 120 pretty quickly.
what happens if you go over the speed you're allowed to run per the rules? do they kick you out and say never come back, or do they say don't do that until you come back with more safety gear?
In reply to patgizz:
I think its the later. From what I've gathered from HRM you're limited to 135 without a cage. Maybe its less, iunno.
I'd like to try it with my VW. See if it runs out of gear or power first.
If it runs out of gear, then I'll take it to Nelson Ledges and run around the whole damn course without leaving 5th gear.
I'm sure I could hit the 130mph top speed of my motorcycle, it's got the power to do it but that's where the gearing runs out.
Maybe I'll see what the Miata can do with the new engine.
I'll be there on my bike, 05 k1200s w/ some mods, if I can get in. I didn't know the first event would be limited in entrants, so I guess I better go ahead and try to sign up. I'm hoping for 165 or so.
April 28-29th is right around the corner... Who's going to be there? Im going to try to make it. Anyone want to do a GRM meetup?
(I know there were more threads on ECTA racing at Wilmington Oh this summer, but couldnt find em...)
What kind of equipment do you need to run a car that's under the 150 mark? Helmet, fire extinguisher, ???
You'll need to log in to post.
