Because I never have and my Google-foo pretty much turns up only one real reference, and it's a table that would seem to indicate that it's really just a version of the NP435. That would actually be fantastic, since I have several of of them and that's what it looks like, but I'd like some real proof other than taking them apart.
I bought a '66 IHC cabover, a CO-1600 yesterday and it came with a 345 and this mystery trans. While I don't expect to have to replace it to make it run again, for fuel economy I am tempted to drop in an LM7 5.3L, but I'm pretty much stuck with the trans due to the COE 4-on-the-tree linkage. If I can put the shift cover on a GM NP435 then I'm golden.
Otherwise I'll look into fabbing up a linkage tower for a NV4500 and do it that way when the time comes.
I know of the Borg Warner t177 but that was a jeep transmission. I bet the t17 code is an internal Cornbinder code for the np435. Do you have a picture?
That's weird, my phone auto corrected "bw" to Borg Warner.
You don't announce you bought a cool old truck, not show us, and then expect help piecing it together. I would look at pictures of a NP435 and compare. This is where I go for truck trans info, http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np435.htm
Fine:

I'll get better pics when I get it home. Only 5300 lbs empty weight, even with the wrecker body, and 19k GVW. So it weighs less than my 1-ton pickup but has literally tons more capacity.
I am well versed in NP435s, and that is what the trans looks like, but I would like some documentation before I take everything apart only to find out I can't use any trans other than what's in there and it only hooks up easily to IH stuff. Might as well leave it together, then, as a 345 is as good as I would get.
I checked IH references and it looks like "t17" is the line ticket code for catalog number 13017 which is the np345 rh pto.
Awesome truck, is that a sweptline dodge parked in front of it?
