Came out this morning to find this:
No note, because of course, but shockingly he/she/it missed the rear door. The principles of detection have led me to deduce that a trailer hitch was involved, and the vehicle was probably backing out and to the left - hence the dinger on the fender. So yeah, anyone have a spare door laying around? Don't know if I want to pay $300 for one off eBay.

Any Impreza door from the same era will fit. Sedans and wagons

F&S Auto parts in Connecticut is pretty much a Subaru only lot. You could try them.

You might actually be my hero. Now here's the funny part - door won't open because it won't unlock. I am terribly vexed.

From the look of the picture, the lock may have pressure on it and will be hard to get unlocked. I don't know what to tell you

Looking at the misalignment at the trim there is a lot of downward pressure on the latch. To relieve the pressure, you would have to cut the door and pull it out. You don't have to be neat. That door is toast.

One time I came out to my car to find a similar situation.
It turned out that my car was hit by MY truck. My roommate had borrowed my truck, tried to do a j-turn (or something) in the street, screwed up, and hit my car with my truck and then drove away and tried to lie about it later, hoping that I would not notice the damage to the truck. Needless to say, I was not happy.
In reply to Robbie:
Berkeleying roommates, amirite? My old roommate borrowed my Jeep and ran it overheated so long that he managed to melt a piston and crack the block. Before that, I did not know how to kill a 4.0 AMC engine.
Wow. You killed a 4.0 Jeep? I'm impressed. I think my coworker ran one for two or three years without coolant before he realized it had a leak..

My brother and I had one with a battery with a dead cell. 10.2 Volts? Jeep don't care. Still started every time.

Was the roommate, but yep! I was more impressed than angry.
