I'm actually considering buying a car thats not 30 years old, and I've always liked these. They depreciate pretty severely, bad thing being I don't think they're at the bottom of the curve. Its high performance and fairly low production, which can be a dangerous mix as well. All the same, they present a lot of car for the money.
I've looked around the net and they don't have a lot of praise or a lot of griping anywhere. At least I haven't found a web site dedicated exclusively to complaining about the same issues and bad dealer service.
Anyway, does anyone have any experience with them? Have any thoughts?
My only comment is I've seen a bunch with about all the clear coat peeled off so obviously they don't use great paint.
I worked at a Jag dealership for a few years. These stood out for their absence in the service stalls. That being said you could get a good one...or not. Typically, British electronics will be your downfall. Mechanicals are fairly stout but like any high end vehicle get records or expect hefty bills for deferred maintenance. Theres nothing more expensive than a cheap Jaguar.

Those are usually the ones that have been resprayed.
OK a 2000 or so s-type has been resprayed? That inspires more confidence in their paint line. I've seen a few of them peeling like an onion so I don't know what to say.
They look good, but what about the trans? I assume it is one of those "lifetime" fluid ones.
