I need something like this ,
https://www.harborfreight.com/4-in-1-power-pack-with-jump-starter-and-compressor-62374.html
its a jump-starter, rechargeable 12 volt power supply and 250 PSI air compressor in one handy unit ,
there is a 20% off coupon in the mail today , ummmm
if you have one how long does the battery last , I have had many of these thru the years and the internal battery does not seem to last ,
I am not sure if Harbor Freight gives an extended warranty on this ,
Anyone know or have a better one to buy ?
Thanks for your ideas

I debated buying a harbor freight jumper pack, ended up getting one on sale at menards for cheaper then if harbor freight was 20% off. I do know that sometimes harbor freight has restrictions on the 20% off which can make it void for electronics.
I bought one from the "Scratch & Dent" section and had to replace the battery not too long ago. Pulled the old one out and looked it up online and bought a new one for cheap, dropped right in. I'd probably use a better battery charger to avoid overcharging the battery instead of the included one.
Honestly there isn't much to them, a plastic battery box, a sealed 12V battery, set of modified jumper cables, a 12v compressor and some switches will get you there with stuff many of us have around the homestead.
Anyway, if you take care of the battery they'll last a decent amount of time and the battery is replaceable. The pump, like so many of those little portable pumps is crap, but it will blow up kids toys and bicycle tires ok. Not sure about vehicle tires.
I had one and it was absolute junk, I'm not sure it worked once for me.
After either being totally dead when I needed it, or being fully charged yet still not able to jump a car about 4 times over a year or two, I threw it out.
Yeah maybe you could replace the battery or the charger, or whatever. But if you buy a good one now, you save the $50 vs buying one of those and then buying a good one later.

Whats a good one ?
Or am I better off making my own with a better battery and a 12v air compressor ?
I need it mostly to air up flat tires , and power my trailer winch to pull up dead (small) cars
Specs say 330 cranking amps and 17AH battery , so a yard tractor battery !
In reply to californiamilleghia :
I have one. The battery lasted 2-years of infrequent compressor use & a couple jumps. I finally pulled it apart a month ago, but still haven't got around to ordering a new battery...

If that's the use case I'd either wire a 7 wire trailer harness on my tow vehicle or I'd just grab a decent automotive battery to mount on the trailer.
Ryobi makes a sweet inflator that does both tires and air mattresses and it uses the same batteries I use for everything else. Your power tool brand of choice probably makes one too.
i dont have that one but i do have a jump pack from hazard fraught
worth the money and works well

I had that HF 4 in 1 jump box. The air pump crapped out first. The battery jump part seemed to work good for a year and a half. Then it would be dead when I wanted to use it so I threw it away.

I had one that looks almost identical from Costco. Honestly, not worth it. I had a similar experience to Robbies - if you worked on a car lot, maybe, but we used it twice successfully and after that it wouldn't hold enough of a charge to start a car.
I think you'd be better off with a marine battery that you keep a trickle charger on, or using another car as a jump starter. I never once got the compressor to work well - meanwhile, the $15 Slime compressor that runs off your cigarette outlet is still pumping away (slowly but reliably) even though it has been living in a trunk getting beat up for the past 11 years.
Thanks guys ,
I use one of my 12v winches for other things , so wiring to the truck is really not going to do it , or mounting a battery on the trailer.....
Do I need a deep cycle battery or just a regular lead acid battery ? I can make a box to carry it ,
I guess we could do another tread on how to use a winch or come-a-long for other uses , but I use mine to pull dead cars around the yard , I chain the winch to a tree or pole , I also sunk pieces of chain in concrete at the corners of the backyard and the shed so I had something to hook onto.......
I've had one for 2-3 years. It's worked pretty well w/only occasional use. It seems to hold a charge pretty well. I've used it for the occasional jump start, phone charge, and air compressor at auto-x events.
Unfortunately, the air hose split right where it connects to the box. I'll have to open it up to see if I can shorten the hose and reconnect it. It hasn't been stored under ideal conditions, so it may have failed by misuse.
Mine seems to start what ever I throw at it even 1.5 years later. Got mine with the coupon as well.
