I did some work on the '90 325i this weekend. Fixed the gas gauge, odometer, wiper switch, and clock. In the process, I had to remove the steering wheel. Well I guess the air bag module noticed that I had unplugged the air bag and plugged it back in, so now I get a REALLY annoying flashing SRS light. From everything I've read, you need a special reset tool for this one, and there aren't any cheap ones on ebay right now. Does anyone have one close that I can use? Or does anyone have one cheap they could sell? Or would anyone have one they could ship me, that I could use for 10 seconds and ship back? Help me out, this light is really freakin' annoying.
Do you have a bulb removal tool?
That was my solution, but my girlfriend drives it, and she actually wants the air bags to work. Silly girls.
I did a little looking online and found one suggestion that disconnecting the battery for an hour may reset the airbag module. I don't know if it will in fact work but it's easy enough to try.
Right on. I may try to leave it unplugged over night. I tried unplugging the battery for a couple of minutes and it was still on after wards, but I'll try that tonight.

Try the local BMWCCA chapter - oftentimes they have a community tool chest for special tools like that. Otherwise a trip to an independent BMW mechanic ought to get it reset pretty quick and cheap. But try the batter unplug overnight trick first.
There aren't that any BMW specific shops around, and oddly enough, the BMW dealer in town doesn't even have the tool. A friend of mine is the head BMW tech, so I called him first. He said the tool they had to reset them was part of a giant Sun machine that is completely obsolete(I guess accept for the airbag reset) that they got rid of years ago.
I have the data cable for my laptop that plugs into the service port that works with Carsoft that would do it but I'm nowhere near you. Maybe someone on bimmerforum has one near you. Next time disconnect the battery and wait a while before removing the airbag to avoid triggering the light.
The shop I work for has one, if you come through Columbus OH I can take car of it for you. The battery trick should work on that old beast though.
