There's a frame for sale nearby and I'm noodling a money pit. I suspect I'm just too big to fit in the thing at 6'-4" and I'm not interesting in the side-mounted engine. I don't think there's enough room in the front for a neutral engine mount. I'm thinking of a BEC for giggles and maybe Solo. Thoughts?
QM is built for 6 to 12 year olds and ~20 hp
Find a Micro Sprint or a TQ if you want a convetional engine placement.
TQ = Three Quarter Midget

Agree. Quarter midgets are basically go karts with roll cages. A 3/4 midget will hold a full size adult. That could be lots fun on an autocross course.
Here's the original posting. It's not clear exactly what it is:

You're going to have to look at that thing to figure out what it is. Maybe it's a TQ Midget, maybe it's a Midget (bigger), but it also says Sprint Car (bigger still, usually V8 powered). I've got friends who are really into these cars and I'd think you'd be better off buying a more complete car than trying to make one from parts.

This is always the case. On this board life is a little different. I'd start by asking myself the fundamental question: Do I want a fabrication challenge and a project, or do I want to drive? First says think about this - realizing it's going to be a moneypit - second says find something more complete and modify/adjust rather than starting from near scratch and fabricating.
wheelbase is pretty short to be good at anything beyond sliding backwards off course in autocross.
