Hey guys,

I am interested in a car in Tampa,but I live in MA. Not a bad trip if,and when I buy it,but pics only tell so much of the story. I would like a set of eyes on the car itself. It has some slight damage in front of the passengers side strut tower,but the seller doesn't think it was in a collision,but I do. Teh shame of it all is the car only has 7000 original miles,and is clean as a whistle otherwise. I am interested even with the damage,but I would like someone to look at it before I fly down,and drive back. Any help would be appreciated,and I can be contacted via email at cdirado at m a c dot com.

Thanks,

Chris

Perfect,you own an example of the car I am interested in. I can't check my email at work,but I will in a bit. Chances are you have already seen this car I am interested in.

Hmmm...so the car in question must be one of these.

    * Mazda RX7 Vert
    * Mazda GLC
    * Ford F350 Crew-cab Dually
    * Ford Bronco
    * Honda NT650 - Hawk GT
    * Toyota Cressida

You can throw out the two Fords,and the motorcycle. that leaves three japanese cars. Guess which one?

I don't have a listing anymore,as the craigslist ad ran out. The seller isn't really pushing the sale of the car hard anymore,and he has others who have been interested in it,and have looked at it. I really want to flip my Datsun for this car,but no one seems interested in it.

Okay to break the silence it is a 78 Mazda GLC.

If you look closely that is a '78 GLC that I am flipping in my avitar. THAT was fun! What do you plan to do with the car? If you are going to swap for a rotary I may be interested in the original engine.

BTW, I picked up a MINT '80 GLC with 60K miles on it a few years ago that was originally from Milwaukee. No lie, originally owned by a little old lady, etc. I lost the bid on ebay but then contacted the buyer who was going to use parts for his 85 (wrong drivetrain/body style, hello???) He needed cash about a three months later and sold it to me for the $1000 he paid for it. I flew to Cleveland, paid him and drove it straight to FL with nary a hiccup. It had a two speed automatic and I probably got 35+ mpg on the way home. Pulled the motor for a "stock" powerplant to do a drivers school and sold the rest of the car for $500 to a local guy who dropped a ported 13B into it with a potato shooter out the back. He eventually sold it for $5000 "with issues". Although the car didn't have AC (pretty necessary down here) I to this day kick myself for dumping it. I even gave the guy a manual pedal assembly to make it a stick. I'm an idiot...

I haven't seen the car you are interested in as I've been out of a job since Feb and have no $$$$ for fun right now.

Here are picts of my $1000 GLC. front 1 rear front 2 seats dash headliner engine

Pict of my '78 right before I flipped it. Brand new stickers too... That was a bad day. Photobucket

I just plan on keeping it stock. If it were not so original I may think about putting a 12A in it,but with 7000 original miles it would be a shame to butcher the car even with the fairly weak motor. The car is an auto which sort of stinks,but I can deal with it. My wife could drive it even.
