Not exactly the color I want but it's doable if it's as nice as the photos appear. Good price too from what I've been shopping. 4 hours away for me, anyone up that way?

I know the dealership, they are enthusiasts themselves, I looked at a S1 944 Cabriolet there a few months ago and it was very nice.
edit: that MKII in the showroom is an amazing show car version of a race car. Very cool car
I mean I can tell from here that's not a $8k car unless you really want that color. Also the wheels are either mismatched or on the wrong ends of the car.

Hm I couldn't get the website to load last night to see anything else. Have to try again.

Have you priced them lately? At least in the OH-IN-IL-MI-KY area.

Is that a late 944 with early 944 wheels and that's why they are swapped front/rear to make them fit?
In reply to Jerry :
The website loads ok for me. They have a lot of pics of the car. Do you want me to upload them here?
IMHO, that car is priced right in today's prices. It looks to be in very nice shape too from the pictures. Check the timing belt, not fun when it breaks on you after a week of getting one. Btdt.

Late offset with Fuchs always fit weird. The 8's are in front and 7's in back though as he said
In reply to chandler :
Yep, saw that in the pics. I tried to point it out/ask q in case Jerry did not know about the suspension differences.

It works for me now, last night I kept getting a weird Permission Denied error message, thought maybe the link from Autotrader was bad.
In reply to chandler :
"I tried to point it out/ask q in case Jerry did not know about the suspension differences." alas, I did not. ;^)
In reply to Jerry :
Honestly I only went to the website to see pics of the MK2 that Chandler pointed and was dissapointed when none were there lol.
If anyone goes, please snap some pics of the yellow VW.
Jerry, with you asking about C3s and now this 944, I'm wondering what are you looking for? It's clear you want another fun car, but have you done a what car analysis? These two are so different.

I fail to see the problem, this is GRM after all!
I am currently cross shopping Honda Fits and Civic SIs for my son's first car lol.
The wheels being on the wrong ends points to someone that doesn't know what they're doing working on the car which is never a good sign with these cars There's not much of anything specifically wrong with it but nothing special about it either, except the color which you say you don't really care about. Everything about it seems "just okay". Interior isn't ruined but looks generally kind of shabby, there don't appear to be any dash cracks but there aren't any direct photos. It's ready for a coolant expansion tank and it looks like the suspension is probably all original still. Also looks like it's still on the stock fuel lines which are a fire hazard at this point. At least the front end has probably been repainted, though it looks like it was an okay job.
I guess my opinion is colored by just not liking these cars (yes I have owned one before and am a porsche fan in general). If you really really want a 944 specifically this is probably an okay price for a serviceable example. But if you want a fun sports car you can get a lot more car for the money, even in the current market.

It's not a problem. I'm just curious. Heck Jerry could buy both. He could also buy and hate both and might've liked something else more. I'm thinking he may want to do the exercise of listing specific traits, specs, etc and then identify cars that potentially match those. Buying and selling random cars because it didn't meet expectations can be expensive.

My browser history for the last year would include: MR2 (1st or 2nd), 944, and for awhile I considered a BMW 1 or 3 series but decided they just didn’t do anything for me. Occasionally I’ll look at 240-260-280Z but everything is either a project or way over my $10k budget.
I also check on CRX to see if I can find a decent example either stock or modified for my price, but “decent example” hasn’t been realistic. Recently I decided I like the C3 styling of the ‘Vette and thought maybe that would be fun for awhile.
I had the 90 Miata for a few years as the 3rd fun car but not a convertible fan so it didn’t hurt much to sell it to free up spot #3. Maybe another one with a hardtop would be different.
So yeah, pretty simple. :)

Before I bought the Boxster I was cross-shopping it with S197 Mustangs.
We're an odd bunch, aren't we?
