Almighty members of this fantastic GRM community...My fiancee's 2007 Hyundai Elantra is at it again.
This time, it's the rear driver's side strut. It is making an atrocious clunking sound, especially toward the top. I tried to find the mount on the inside of the car, but I can't find the damn thing. It's not in the trunk, and it doesn't look like it's behind the back seat. Anyone ever done rear struts on one of these? Thanks for any help in advance.

Seriously, it doesn't get any easier. Hyundai offers all of it's repair procedures, recalls and bulletins to anyone willing to take the time to sign up. Must use IE though to see the pictures.
Awesome, I'll have to sign up for that. Thanks!
Well, tried to sign up for the site, but the sign up link is broken.

look up at the top of the shock in the rear. 2 bolt take those out and the one lower bolt and shock and mount are out. stupid easy!!!!!!!
After doing a bit of research on this last night, I found this thread:

Apparently, I'm not alone on this. Pretty much all the 2007-10 Elantras and the last gen Sonata do this. They released a revised shock, so I have to replace them both. You can only get the revised design at the dealer, so there's no cheap solution. At least it's easy to repair (thanks KATYB!)
It's going in for service for a recall on the airbag system tomorrow (something else we've been fighting with Hyundai over for the last year), and if they don't fix that properly, we might just cut our losses with this thing.
i'll buy it cheap. Our 11 year old 200k mile accent died and I'd rather cut my losses with it and start fresh....
I don't think you want this thing, trust me. It's gold and the body is beaten up too.
depends on how cheap! I mean... the car it'd be replacing is an 11 year old Accent Sedan. I don't think they get more beat up than that.
Speaking of... if you need a login for HMA Service, let me know. Like I said though, you have to use Internet Exploder.
Also, if OEM parts are what you need, www.hyundaipartsonline.com is the place to go. You can print a quote and see if your local dealer will match (like we do) and if not you'll still save 15%.
