Are you buying or leasing? If you're buying, it becomes an issue, but not for leasing, as the lease company gets the tax credit.

I drive to many miles to lease, I did see there is a 46,000 mile lease but that wouldn't get me two years. My accountant said to buy it in January and adjust my withholding to match the credit, maybe.
It is what you pay in not your refund. If you have tax liability of $7500 or higher you can claim it all, otherwise you will only get what you have paid.

That is also the way that I understand it. I have not completed all of my fleet reassignment duties so I have not made an actual purchase yet, but I'm trying to make it happen before the end of the year to minimize the wait for my payback.
