Anyone using an App for an android phone to do lap timing and GPS tracking?
Got a motorcycle school coming up on Monday and would like to track my lap times.
I think someone here had written one at one time. It has to be idiot proof cause I'm not great with this thing.. Samsung S3
I downloaded about 6 of them to test at Road America and NJMP next month and to compare with official beacon timing. Without having tested them myself I've heard great things about Harry's Lap Timer. You can sync them up to on track video using Track Vision or RaceRender software as well in order to get some useful telemetry and feedback.
I've been using Harry's Lap Timer on iOS, and he's had a version out for android for a while now.
There is enough of a learning curve, I'm not sure I'd describe it as idiot proof though. It's relatively simple though if the track is already defined (haven't found one yet that isn't) and you aren't using an external GPS, OBD or video. Aside from purchasing these accessories, I don't think you can spend more than $20 on it, and if you do, I'd recommend an external GPS first.
Support on his forums is excellent.
