We're back. No racing today.
Ran 168.6130 mph pedaling against 11 mph head wind yesterday. Set new C/CGC record. We had the old mark at 164.46. Could not stay in it. Left rear shock went bad and the car kept getting upset on the big end. Each run it got worse and could only run 162-164 pedaling and fighting it down thru. Found issue this morning and loaded after we could not find a replacement.
On a happier note, Pat did great. Made license passes and did run over 137 holding at a predetermined rpm in order to stay under tech limit. The car clearly has more in it. He can share his thoughts from here. But I will say it was awesome to watch hime run thru the big end and from the start on different runs. Great job Pat!

Man, what a great time!
On Friday, we were late getting in after being sidelined for a few hours in rural NC with a dolly hub failure. After getting that repaired and back on the road, we rolled into Maxton at 4 pm and were met by Andy and his family, who helped whip us through registration, tech, rookie orientation and fuel up. Having them point us in the right direction was a huge help.
I tech'd safe to 135, so I dialed the boost way back and had a go on Saturday morning. Ran 116 (realized my tach is not exactly accurate!), then 125.7 for my licensing run, then 133.xx. I was legal to 135, but they allow a 5 mph cushion, meaning I could run to 140 without any trouble. So, I made more more run this morning and went 137.78. Boost was at 13 psi, which for this car is very low and I was still letting out of it so I didn't break 140.
All in all, it was a great time. Land Speed Racing is a ton of fun, the people were great and the event was well run. I'll be back for it again...hopefully with the safety equipment in place to tech at least to 150. You guys should try it.
The Nelsons were also a ton of help, and I thank them for that. All four of them helped me at one point or another. I own you guys one...or two....or three.
