I looked at that one while I was there too, could have had it for a lot less than he has on CL. Dunno, something about it didn't speak to me but it was a very nice clean car for certain.
The silver was nice, I like the grey better but as far as colors go silver is good and considering I'll have it vinyl logo'd up with the company graphics it will make a nice base color for some logos :)
He had a box grand marquis, 91 I think he said, that was clean and ran great that could be had for 1k and a purple color shift 95 (93? maybe) lincoln coupe, air ride already removed and replaced with springs, overall nice lookin car for 1k, if I wasn't set on a CV I'd have considered that for cruising out to Vegas.
Nice! Sounds like you going to have much more fun with that Vic than I will with mine! Let us know how it fairs the ride to Vegas.

That won't be till next summer, I'll use it for winter duty, I have a feeling its gonna be a bad one this year so I'd rather put the Abarth in the garage and the wife would rather I be wrapped in a large car. But yeah it will be perfect for the run from here to St Louis then 5 days of overseeing the banger rally on Rt 66 from St Louis out to Vegas (obviously not Rt 66 the whole way since it doesnt go to Vegas) There's an open class too, grab your new toy and join us ;)
Smart thinking. That sounds like fun!!
I think I'm still going to buy that grey one. It's got a lot going for it and it's also sitting on $1,200 worth of tires with only 17k miles on them.
That grey one looks good. Good starting point for a fun driver.
Yea, I think It will be mine Tuesday. It's a bit high for a '04 Crown Vic but the peace of mind knowing I got a really really clean car and previous owner took care of it, is worth it I suppose. Especially since I don't have a garage now and can't do any big repairs. It's really close to a marauder price but those are pretty beat up now adays because of the people who own them.

Well darn you for starting this thread Mr. Coldsnap, it seems I own a beater LX Sport now.
Ended up at $2200 out the door so he covered temp tags and taxes so we pretty much met halfway on the price.
Nice to drive, front end is a bit loose, and I'll be doing brakes soon but power is plenty sufficient for what I wanted and the ride is smooth. I don't think I fully realized all the gizmos this car had. Seat could go back further for my liking but there's plenty of adjust ability in all other directions. The adjustable pedals are a cute touch too.
Nice! That's one hell of a luxury ride for 2,200$. Adjustable pedals are nice! I'm 5'7" so with a car that big I was happy to see it. There are a tun of gizmos in the car, I'm hoping all that stuff doesn't give me problems as the car ages. I'm picking mine up tomorrow, paid about 4x what you paid! But I'm hoping to take it to 250k miles, with the way the previous owner took care of it, I think it's doable.

Will do! Crossroads Ford in Cary, the one with the HUGE building and the classic cars there.

Photos were posted earlier in the thread but here she is again.
Well, I'll be a a snnoavaabitch. I usually see the sports with painted grilles. Looks like she has some battle scars. If I were buying for a DD I'd be looking for an extremely clean one, but this is for business, right?
Love the drop, wheels, and interior. I wish I had my P71 back. But second time around, I'd want her lower and street package. Like this.

If you ever get rid of those wheels, keep me in mind. I'd love a set for my Grand Marquis.

Yeah, she's been around the block a time or 2, thus the low price, but she's only got 113k on her so plenty of life left. The front grille and bumper have been replaced at some point, but no damage to the core support so it must not have been anything serious. I might order some paint and match it back again and address a few other blemishes.
This one is to be a winter beater then go out on S2S next year and not come back so I was looking for cheap :) I was really hunting used P71s but anything in similar condition out here was the same price so why not have a bit of luxury for the ride :)
I do love the wheels, tempted to toss them on the Colony Park to see how they look but I don't imagine they'd work on her.
Hopefully not a snow driver. It'll drive you wherever you want as long as is in a circle.
The Police here throw snow tires on them and they go through pretty much anything.

Yep, they aren't that bad in the snow and I take mostly well cleared highways to work every day. But that means lots of salt on the roads, no point in subjecting the Abarth to that.
When it snows here, you'd think the world stopped spinning. Last snow, all the 4x4s took to the opposite lanes to navigate through stuck traffic as the cops watched. They were stuck too. Their department couldn't afford snow tires. When I had the P71 neither could I. It got deep enough and it was pretty scary driving. It wasn't until recently that I could afford decent tires. Things are looking up, though.

We had Potenza's on our old 98 civilian CV--not RE-11's or anything, but still a summer tire--snow was an issue, but we were only stranded once in a parking lot when 5 inches dumped over 2 hours. Would I recommend it? No. But with snow tires, it would not be an issue.
Nobody told the Alaska State Troopers that they suck in the snow. They plow through everything with their Vics. I swapped out my entire rear axle to a 3.27 Trackloc for $500, and 4 hours work. The donor cars are everywhere.
Drove it home today. What a ride, I absolutely love it and people who suggested a Vic for me here hit the nail on the head. It's the most spoiled crown vic I've ever seen, previous owner serviced it every 5,000 miles at the dealer he purchased it from and traded it in there. Also only drove it on Michelin tires. I'm probably going to buy a cover for it because I don't want it to get any sun damage or snowed on. And that moonroof, adds a lot to the vic in my opinion.

You sit really close to the steering wheel. I sat about a million miles away when I drove a Vic. Easy cruising at its best.
5'7" :( seat forward and pedals forward. I also drive like an old lady in that I like to be as vertical as possible. Hah
