Are my wheels too orange?

I'm near the end of a month long rebuild of the brakes on my MGA. I also decided to take the wire wheels off and convert the car back to "steel" wheels. I'm using Shelby wheels from an 80s Saab 900 (need one more). These were gold originally and were getting ratty. Here's my MGA in days of yore with the wheels:

I was going for the WRX look because I like the gold wheels on the red car. I used VHT Hi-Temp Engine paint in Gold Metallic, which Internet told me was a close match to the WRX color:

Looks pretty orange to me.

My garage hasn't recovered from the tool and parts explosion that took place following the complete brake and axle rebuild, so I have yet to paint and mount the new tires on the remaining three wheels.

I can't decide if I like the metallic "gold" (orange). My other color selections are:

Cast aluminum, metallic black, the metallic gold, and in front is a Toyota pearl metallic gold:

Any pennies to throw?

Whoa . . . way too cheezy looking.

Check out Metallic Desert Sand in the auto touch up section of your FLAPS.

It's a real close match to the color on the Cosworth Vega wheels, which is close to the color of the Panasports.

If not perfect for you, stay in the auto touch-up paint section until you find a color that is. That's were the good stuff is hidden.

The Toyota one looks close, but GrimmSpeed sells cans of paint that are supposed to be the same/closest to the BBS+Subaru gold wheel color.

Lighter gold and you're... Golden.

I used the Grimmspeed BBS paint on these Volks. Love the color. It's about $12-$15 per can shipped.

I just thought of an alternate, bronze. I have a dark red 240SX that I will likely get dark bronze wheels for... if I ever get it running before I sell it But I've seen some S13s and Z32s in the same OEM color with bronze wheels and they looked pretty good.

I like the shade because that shade of gold is rarely seen on wheels or anything automotive, but I'm an oddball that actually likes orange.

Out of those three, I like gold lamé the best, but I'd keep looking too. Think more bronzy than gold.

I like the orangy one the best of the three but would look for a bit more gold.

I still have that fourth wheel in my garage. $50 shipped and I'll do my best to get it packed up this weekend, or you're welcome to come pick it up. WV isn't TOO far away.

Those are too loud for my taste. I think the silver looks best.

BTW that paint won't last long because you didn't bake it, and the bake process would not be good for your wheels so....

silver or charcoal with polished lip. anything else is too modern a look for a car that old. IMO only. it's a cool car no matter what.

This may be too orange for most people. Your wheels aren't even close. Also might want to consider that after a bit of time in the sun, the color will fade a bit.

Here's the final color. Still not dark enough, but I'm tired of the car on jack stands instead of on the road.
