One of my neighbors has an '06 Quest van with a nasty power steering fluid leak. I think that it's coming from the pressure supply line to the rack.
There is a pipe/hose wrapped in foil insulation, and the oil is leaking from where the insulation ends at a bracket directly above the rack.
My question is, what exactly is involved in getting to that hose to replace it? Or more specifically, how many hours of labor should a dealer or legit shop charge for this repair? I have no intention of trying this repair myself, but I'm asking because I don't want my neighbors to get ripped off.
Thanks.

The FSM is pretty poor in this respect. I'm assuming you're talking about the hose nearest #4?
I don't have access to labor times from Nissan, but All Data says 2.5 hours. From my experience with All Data, that could be anywhere from 2 hours to 3 new moons.

Thanks, and I'm pretty sure that it is #4 in that drawing.
If they are claiming 2.5 hrs, then I guess that dropping the subframe isn't nessary.
Can't tell you about installation, but the part number is 49720-CK00B and retail is $99.35

You're welcome Happy. I don't think the subframe has to come down either. I can dig a little deeper at work Monday if you'd like? I can't guarantee I'll have any more info though.
I always get a sort of "resigned inevitabilty of pain" mood whenever I have to change a power steering hose these days, with FWD V6 vehicles being among the funnest.
Just be glad its not a Volvo S80. They are very close to the mostest funnest yippee kiyay jobs.

Or an '88 Honda Prelude ... that thing wraps around the whole engine. What a mess it was to change that, twice.
