I stumbled across this a few days ago.
While not a big fan of off-road escapades, this is one he!! of a machine!
In reply to plance1:
I stumbled on it same as oldsaw... but if you can find anything on the lunatic genius that built that thing I would love to read more.
There is a fair share of idiots involved in four-wheeling, but also some guys with extremely good imagination and fab skills. I'd put this under the latter heading.
I want to know more. That gully at the end is not a place a Jeep-sized vehicle is meant to go.
In reply to plance1: Go to post #40 in this thread and there's a description. It was featured in 4wheeloffroad some time in the past but it's not in their online archives.

That's really really amazing.
How the heck do the axles on that thing function?
Oh... explained in the link above... chain driven.
I built this thing out of legos like 15 years ago!!!
I wish I was more ambitions, I seriously had that Idea when I was like 12. Use a standard 4wd mechanism with axles located very close to the middle of the car chain driving totally indepenent Wheels that can have like 60+ inches of travel totally independent.
I wonder if he has a computer/gyro's doing the leveling or if he has 4 hyrdo switches and is just really get at using the switches?

I think switches. The link above says that he's used to all the levers he has to use from years working with heavy construction equipment. Probably the same sort of guy who enacts people's curse at LeMons.
I read about that years ago, this is the first video I've seen. Thanks for posting.
As a long time 4 wheeler I have two thoughts:
That's cheating!!
That's amazing!!!!!
Was this made by someone with an engineering degree?
Or some guy in his backyard with a tube bender, some steel, a welder, and a bunch of PBR?

I'm guessing all of the above

Not an off-roader, are you?
