As is being discussed in another thread, I am looking at E46 M3's and came upon this wrongly listed and misleading ad on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-BMW-M3-SHOW-CAR-Built-motor-LOTS-EXTRAS-/160475444840?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item255d14f668
If you don't mind, would you guys help me get it removed by reporting it, and if you feel up to it, perhaps send them some angry messages, either way doesn't bother me. I just hate when people seem to intentionally mislead others in hopes to make a buck, please feel free to give this person some trouble.
I'm quick to help out a fellow GRM'er, but what is wrong with that ad?
It is listed as an M3, when it is simply a 330Ci with sport package and some M badged accessories.
It is just misleading to list something as an M3 which puts it in a totally different price range, not to mention it is found by going through the BMW>M3 directories...
It is misleading, but he does say it's a 330 in the description. This sort of thing is annoying to be sure, but then again lots of eBay ads stretch the truth. As long as they're not offering to ship the car from Nigeria I tend to ignore them and move on.

He killed Bambi with that car
Well this is the reply I got from my message, I simply said, your car is listed improperly, please stop misleading people.
Dear flountown,
I dont have time to waste emailing people about their ad, I see that you do so please stop wasting my time and keep your comments to yourself.
And for the record, I understand people list things in misleading ways, the thing that REALLY bothers me is that I didn't find this by typing in M3 to the search box, I found it when I go through the directories for a specific model, meaning this isn't listed in BMW>3 Series> etc. etc. It is specifically listed in the BMW>M3 category...I could care less if the title is M3, but it is deliberately listed in a category, as an M3, where only other M3's are listed.
From the ebay add:
Coverage: This vehicle is eligible for up to $50,000 in Vehicle Purchase Protection-
So I go to the Vehicle Purchase Protection page and see:
Situations for Which Protection is Offered - 3.The vehicle make, model or year is different than what was described in the seller's listing at the time you placed your bid or offer.
So can you actually purchas this and then get Ebay to pay you difference between it and the cost of the as advertised M3?
In reply to racinginc215:
No, I didn't get burned, I just hate wading through utter crap when searching for a very specific car. It is bad enough I have to deal with things like that on a larger scale when searching for hockey jerseys and dealing with fakes, but I sure don't expect it when searching for a high ticket item like a newer M3.

Then report it to ebay and be done with it, don't spam this board because ebay pisses you off on a legit ad. Yeah, its miscategorized, but who really cares. Why would it be a problem for GRM'ers? Go post in ebay's forums if you have that big of a problem with it.
