'96 astro has sat up for about 2 months now... finaly got a chance to replace the brake lines...
now that thats done I can't get the thing to start...
she gets spark, i'm hearing the fuel pump kicking on... feel and hear fuel girggling into the fuel line... but when I release I also hear gurgling in the fuel lines...
i know the van was getting occasionally harder to start if it sat (more time) at the time I was thinking the check valve in the pump was going/gone... now i'm wondering if the pump is just not up to the task...
so thoughts on where to start?
... got it started with some starter fluid... back to the old self... where if it sits for more then a little bit you have to cycle the fuel pump a few times or crank it a few times before it'll start up... guess i'd forgotten about that...
so does that sound like a fuel pump fixing to go?
quick drive... seems that old cold start issue is a lot worse after 2 months of sitting... after about letting it sit for about 40 min it took another spray of starter fluid to get her going...
thoughts on the situation?... going to get old quickly... but at least it made it out of the carport :)...
Yeah, sounds like a dying fuel pump. Once the engine is turning, the voltage is back up and the pump is at full power again. If you have a fuel pressure gauge, I'd still recommend checking it over to verify it's not a plugged filter or leaky regulator though.
so.. if it dies while rolling... is it an astro-glide?
You need, as they say in your parts, a "Bomba de combustable".
thats a little further south bud lol... we're more alabama country up here
Really? I thought they started talking like that in Jackson, Mi!
well, tht seems to be the general concensous...
