BFGs are heavy too
In reply to pilotbraden :
Compared to other tires of the same size and category, they are, if I remember correctly neck and neck with the Nittos for the heaviest.
I'm shopping for my next set of all terrains for my 75% street driven Envoy so excessive weight can severely affect handling, ride comfort and fuel economy.
Like 41 pounds for Toyos and 49.5 for BFGs.
According to my reading 4 pounds of extra unsprung weight is 1 hp, that's the equivalent of losing 8 hp and a huge loss in fuel economy which in the middle of Peru I think the OP said is a big deal
The Cooper Discovery are actually great as well. I have like the Toyo Open Country AT and the Yokohama Geolander AT on a few vehicles and really liked them. Snagged a full set of Yoks for the 4 runner for 660 installed off walmart.com. They should have been 1100 but I didn't complain.

Falkens aren't available either, the complete list in 255/60 or 265/60 R18 is:
Dunlop Grandtrek (nope, failed previously)
Maxxis (nope, failed)
Nexen (no thanks)
Comforser (no thanks)
Yokohama (road tyre)
Michelin (road tyre)
BFG
Continental
Mickey Thompson (Mega $$$$)
Maybe there's a reason, but why didn't you just change to a slightly different size with more tire selection? Go slightly wider, slightly narrower, slightly taller, etc....
This... if possible go down in wheel diameter to 17" or 16"... will get much better ride, higher load capacity, and better tire durability.
I recently went from 265/70-16 Kumho Crugen HT51 (33lbs, 30.6" diameter) on stock 16x7 SV wheels to 265/75-16 Cooper Discovery AT3 4S (41lbs, 31.6" diameter) on ~4lb lighter 16X8 wheels... and ride noticeably got better - smoother & more controlled over rough surfaces and impacts even if total wheel/tire weight is ~4.5 heavier. BFG KO2 are much too heavy for me to even consider, and don't need or want Load E rated tires. The Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 3 would drop 2 more lbs over the Coopers... may try them next set.
